Non-invasive body contouring with Coolsculpting

Non- invasive body contouring is a great option for those who don’t want to go the surgical route. This treatment works best for those who are a healthy weight but have a slight pooch on the abdomen, love handles, back or loose skin of the arms or thighs. This amazing technology works by freezing fat cells. The temperature is cold enough to destroy the fat cells without affecting nearby nerves, blood vessels or the skin. Over the next 30 to 90 days, the body eliminates these dead fat cells to reveal a new slimmer you. We recommend two to three treatments, four weeks apart and the results can be permanent.

What to expect during treatment

No general or topical anesthesia or pain medication is needed.

As the procedure is initiated, vacuum pressure draws tissue into an applicator cup between cooling panels. The vacuum pressure may cause sensations of deep pulling, tugging, and pinching in the treatment area.

You also may experience intense stinging, tingling aching, or cramping. These sensations generally subside within 10 minutes as the area becomes numb.

What to expect immediately after Coolsculpting

Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may look or feel stiff.

You may feel a sense of nausea or dizziness as your body naturally warms and sensation returns to the treatment area. These are normal reactions that typically resolve within minutes.

The treated area may be red for a few hours after the applicator is removed. This is an expected but temporary effect after Coolsculpting.

Bruising, swelling, and tenderness can occur in the treated area. This typically resolves within a week or two.

What to expect immediately after Coolsculpting (continued)

Nausea, tingling, stinging, and cramping in the treatment area are often reported on treatment day.

You may feel a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area. This is normal and typically resolves within a few hours but may last for several weeks after your procedure.

There is minimal recovery time after Coolsculpting. Most patients are able to return to their daily routine immediately after the procedure.

What to expect the next few days to weeks after Coolsculpting

It is common for the treated area to feel bloated and swollen in the first few days and weeks after Coolsculpting.

You may experience a temporary dulling of sensation that can last for several weeks.

At some point within the first two weeks, you may experience one or more of the following sensations- deep itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, strong cramping, diarrhea, muscle spasms, aching, or soreness. Please call the office if these symptoms persist beyond two weeks or worsens over time.

You may start to see changes as early as three weeks after Coolsculpting. But the most dramatic results usually occur one to three months after the procedure.

POST CARE LASER INFORMATION: Vascular and Pigmented Lesions (continued)

Until the redness resolves, do not use hot showers, saunas, pools, hot tubs, cosmetic products, or shave the area. It is best to keep the skin cool and well moisturized with basic lotions and creams.

Do not expose the area to the sun, tanning beds/lamps, exfoliating products or peels for 2 weeks after treatment. Doing so can cause negative side effects such as pain, redness, blisters, infection, peeling, scarring, discoloration, or burning of the skin.

After treatment, the vascular lesion may be red, raised, or purple in color and later turn into a scab. This is normal. Do not pick or scratch the areas. The pigmented lesion will turn darker in the next one to two days, becoming thin scabs that could be black in color. This is normal. Do not pick or scratch the areas. The scab will fall off on its own in two weeks.

It is ok to apply makeup to the area after the treatment. Please apply sunblock SPF 45 every day to the treated area. Avoid the sun and anything hot or abrasive to the area for two weeks. The results are not immediate. Do not evaluate the vessels or brown spots for two weeks. You will need 1 to 3 treatments to get the desired results.
